First Generation (W 124, 1993-1995)
The facelifted W124 was reveealed1993 and it was called the “Mercedes E Class”. All the Mercedes-Benz
models switched to this new system. The diesel engines back then proved to be more fuel-
economical than the gasoline-powered engines. The V8 powered sedans were named 400E and 500E
and E420/E500 after 1993. the 3.0-litre cars were badged as E320.
Second Generation ( W210, 1996-2002)
The second generation of the Mercedes E Class was launched in 1995, and the car by now had made a place in the upper end of the mid-size luxury segment. The new Mercedes E Class had changed a lot from its previous generation.
The Mercedes E Class was now 1.6 inches longer and 2.3 inches wider. The W210 was facelifted again in the year1999.
